Hawaii 2025 POST #1 "Getting There"
We arrived at Groome Transportations Twin Peaks location 15 min before departure, as requested. Leaving our car there for our daughter Nytasha to pick up later in the week after their Disney trip. There was an older couple there with their dog waiting, she was going to Hawaii also on the same Hawaiian flight HA35. The shuttle shows up on time, the driver loads the luggage (2 bags per person) and we leave Tucson AZ @ 0410. It was a nice easy ride to PHX and we arrived at Terminal 3 at 0530. Kiosk was easy to get bag tags and then just drop off our bags and do the ID check. We weighted the bags after packing so i knew we were at 49 lbs on one and 47.5 lbs on the second. We both had carry-on bags, and small backpacks as our personal items. getting through security wasn't bad, but using our Military ID # as our Known Traveler Number didn't work for TSA Pre-Check. (So we'll do that in Hawaii for our follow-on trip to Vietnam and Japan). Arrived at gate #8 about 45 min before boarding, so a quick morning Espresso Cappuccino was in order. Grande $8.75 :( The flight boarded well and with in-flight Wifi and a few movies to watch... 6 hours and 10 min later we were landing in HNL. Had to wait about 30 minutes for luggage and Eileens sister Michelle picked us up just after noon. By 1300 we were at Joes Grill on Nimitz having Loco Moco and Chicken Katsu...
